LoPresti Dance Theatre Dance Program
CREATIVE MOVEMENT I
This class introduces the basics of dance to our youngest students. Movement skills, rhythm, timing, positions, and terms are explored through the use of tumbling, rhythmic games and music.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT II
A continuation of the fundamentals of ballet and tap with a gradual increase in the level of difficulty.
JAZZ
This fast-paced class consists of isolation, exercises, stretching, progressive steps and combinations, and incorporates various styles including musical theater, hip-hop and funk.
TAP
Emphasis is on developing rhythm, coordination, syncopation and speed. Class consists of tap-barre, center, traveling steps and combinations.
CLASSICAL BALLET
A highly structured dance discipline and the basis for all other styles of dance. Technique is based upon the Russian (Vaganova) and/or French styles.
POINTE
The ultimate technique for the advanced, serious ballet dancer. Students must be thoroughly conditioned with back, legs and feet sufficiently strong enough to perform this technique.
LYRICAL
Students must have ballet and jazz training. Movement is fluid emphasizing creative expression combining elements of ballet, modern, and jazz.
HIP-HOP/FUNK
Choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music. Hip-hop/Funk includes a wide range of styles notably breaking, locking, popping, and grounded movement.
BREAKDANCE
A form of street dancing that focuses on poping, locking, downrock, toprock, power moves, and freezes. An urban style of acrobatic dance that is a part of hip-hop culture.
MUSICAL THEATRE/VOICE LESSONS
Introduces students to original Broadway choreography and themes of Broadway shows, the choreographers, and will even be introduced to acting and improv.
ACROBATICS
A form of gymnastics that solely focuses on floor work. Students will work on balance, agility, acro dance, and motor coordination.
Mommy & Me
Children will sing and dance along to the music while incorporating props and toys to develop skills. They will work on rhythm, timing, and movement as they clap and stomp to the beat. Children will also learn social skills like making friends, taking turns, and filtering a structured routine.
